Oral Histories

The Oral Histories in the collection provide a fascinating audio record of some of the memories of those who shared in Sam Wanamaker's vision for a reconstructed Globe theatre on its original site. Topics touched on in the Oral Histories include the challenges of the theatre space and how this affects performance, early legal battles with the local council, financial challenges associated with the construction of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and the way in which the Globe was received by the media and theatre industries.
